Why do we do this? Why does my child need to be fitted for an instrument?
Every person is different just like all the instruments are different. We want to make sure the instrument your child selects is the right fit for them. Selecting an instrument that isn't a great fit adds a lot of unnecessary stress and makes it far more likely the student will not enjoy band and want to quit. We want your child to get the absolute MOST out of band, so we hire experts on each instrument to help find the best fitting instrument for your child, the one that your child is most likely to have success with and the one that will make practicing FUN and not just a chore.
How long will it take?
Around 50 minutes
Does a parent/guardian need to be there?
Yes, we ask that all students be accompanied by a parent/guardian throughout the process. It's a lot of fun seeing the kids try out the instruments!
What does the process look like?
There will be stations around the cafeteria with experts on each instrument who will have your student try the instrument and use their expertise to help determine which instrument is the best fit for your child. Students will spend a few minutes at each station being guided and instructed by our experts. The more instruments your child tries, the better! Many times, a student comes in thinking they want to play one thing, and they leave finding that they really want to play another!
